A Poem in Loving Memory of Sandy Brook Children

GOODBYE FOR NOW

Oh, precious little ones!
How can we say goodbye?
The thought of never seeing you
Bring waves and waves of pain
How can we live like this?
When we will miss everything
Your innocent smile and energy
Even the naughty glint of your eyes

Who would have thought?
That fateful day was the last
Never again to hear your voice
And kiss you goodbye for school
No more birthdays to celebrate
Or grad ceremonies to attend
Not even a wedding to witness

You were a blessing
A bundle of joy to behold
You taught us to live and love
How did we deserve such a gift?
If we can steal a day from death
Or even an hour will do
We will hug you one last time
And tell you, "We love you so!"

God wants you by His side
So we'll say goodbye for now
Go on and soar towards heaven
Where everything's happy and beautiful
No demanding moms nor angry dads
One day we'll be together again
Today, we live with your memories

We will miss you everyday.
We will love you forever.

Anguish

in a span of a short life
the stab that marked forever
not once but a thousand times over
it is a life flooded in strife

wounded like a warrior defeated
a stream of welling anguish is falling
the thorns of sorrow is killing
a lonesome fellow deserted

tough like a heartless giant
only to bled anew
to crumble a man of gallant
a torment meant for the few

a most horrifying wail
that extends to the darkest
even the strong become frail
the end of the meekest

the absence of solitude
a chilling sense of foreboding
to see one's magnitude
one must keep abiding

Where Are You Sleep?

Everyone is off to bed
The oldest one was first to shut her eyes
One by one the teens were in their jammies
But the little one first needs to be fed
Soon she dozes off like everyone else

Exchanges of "Good nights" and "Sweet dreams"
The day has finally come to an end
The bed looks like it beams
Fluffy pillows awaits and would gladly lend
A heavenly comfort and a tired soul's mend

It is now past midnight
But the eyes resist the lure of sleep
The lamp's little ray was the only light
To shut the humming sounds with all the might
Where are you sleep?

VIDEO: Kina Grannis "In Your Arms" and 288, 000 Jelly Beans

Now, this is what I call a brilliant music video. The artistry and creativity set it apart with all the music videos of today which to me are pretty average. There's not much originality and it is loaded with tons of subliminal messages and distasteful scenes.

Kina Grannis featured in this music video singing her single, "In Your arms" with thousands of colorful jellybean paintings in the background which also tells a story all in itself. There were tree, mountains, a girl with guitar, birds, balloons, rainbow, snow, a pot and watering can, a growing plant, an apple, even a worm,  a butterfly, fire, bats, beach, an angel singing lips, fireworks, a damsel in distress being saved, a skull and planet jelly beans. It was a pleasure to watch.

It is unique and different. The time, which is 22 months, effort and work spent on making this video definitely paid off. The director, Greg Jardin, is commendable for attempting to create such artistry. The music video is simple and organic yet it oozes authenticity and pure art.

A Fatherless Child

A fatherless child, she was
A little girl treated like a queen
With a dear mom and the rest of the kin
A hug from uncle; from gramps, a kiss on the chin
Then, love was enough for her

A fatherless child, she was
The girl grew up; had to move away
New city, new friends; the family was at bay
Going with the flow; riding the tides of the day
Then, love was distant for her

A fatherless child, she was
Another chapter, a new beginning
For a young lady, it was utterly exciting
Longings and stirrings make the heart go pondering
Then, love was a wondrous thing for her

A fatherless child, she was
A new world she entered with ardor
To meet the King whom they call the savior
The epitome of a perfect father; secretly yearned for
Then, love was glorious for her

A fatherless child, she was
A tragedy struck; it shattered her heart
A kiss on the chin no more; a lifetime apart
To forget will take forever; sorrow has become her part
Then, love was broken for her

A fatherless child, she was
She must go on; continue her story
Soon the journey marks a quarter of a century
Only to realize, a path was paved towards mediocrity
Then, love was passive for her

A fatherless child, she was
A young lady aged beyond her years
The burdens of life has brought endless tears
Depression took over; paralyzed by the unspoken fears
Then, love was lost for her

A fatherless child, she was
Slapped with the truth: she was unwanted
A sea of hatred from the deepest it all erupted
A gaping hole; the heart was permanently pierced
Then, love was crushed for her

A fatherless child, she was
A weary soul; lonely beyond belief
Only one’s embrace can quench the grief
Never to be complete; Not a chance to savor relief
Then, love was cold for her

A fatherless child, she was
A prodigal child; a confused wanderer
Blame, anger, doubt towards her perfect father
Stuck on a crossroad; too many questions with no answer
Then, love was confusing for her

A fatherless child, she was
The search for meaning was futile
On her own, she was a prisoner on exile
But with open arms, the King awaits from a mile
Then, love was restored for her

A fatherless child, no more
A moment of clarity; it was a liberation
Embrace her purpose; goodbye to indignation
Finally, a perfect father’s love brought in completion
Then, love was perfect for her

A Solitary Soul

Awaken to a deathly silence
In search for a lover, a companion
Among the midst of the faceless multitudes
A longing for a beautiful reunion
Heart pounding ready to offer one's gratitude
The many years of endless waiting
Yes, Soon! Soon, it will be over.
But truth be told, there was no meeting
It was a tale to happen never
One has to surrender to an eternal absence.

Can one bear such utter sadness?
There is no quench to a grieving soul
Not even the painful tears of bitter sorrow
Only one face can get it whole
One wishes not for a better tomorrow
Put to sleep the numbing ache
Of a lonely heart without a mate
To roam the world so one can make
A turn around of fate
Because to live without is total madness.

Yes, We Can.

So, I say let's be crazy
Be not hazy
To rebel not follow
Go against the flow
Think outside the box
To be cunning like a fox
Change the norms
Never mold with the forms
Believe the impossible
For we are responsible
If we want one heck of a future
Rise above the culture
Of mediocrity
and inferiority
Dare to think we can
For the sake of every man
Yes, we can change the world.

Will by Ella Wheeler Wilcox

There is no chance, no destiny, no fate,
Can circumvent or hinder or control
The firm resolve of a determined soul.
Gifts count for nothing; will alone is great;
All things give way before it, soon or late.
What obstacle can stay the mighty force
Of the sea-seeking river in its course,
Or cause the ascending orb of day to wait?
Each well-born soul must win what it deserves.
Let the fool prate of luck. The fortunate
Is he whose earnest purpose never swerves,
Whose slightest action or inaction serve.
The one great aim.
Why, even Death stands still,
And waits an hour sometimes for such a will.

Ever heard the cliche, "If there's a will, there's a way?" I'm sure we all did at one point in our lives. The truism of this maxim rings loud and clear in this poem by Ella Wheeler Wilcox. It's not just any ordinary will but it's the kind of will that does not bow to circumstance, problems, or any hindrances. It's a will that even makes the inevitable stand still.

Can you imagine what we can do if we have such a will?

Waiting

Waiting is not doing nothing
It is in fact giving everything
To be still is to stop fighting
On your own you will always be losing
Just let Him take over the driving
In faith, you start believing
With God, it is a happy ending

The Daily Battle

Yesterday, I was on top of the world
I felt like I conquered Mt. Everest
Or won the Olympics medal of gold
It was a feeling that tastes the sweetest

Today, I am on the brink of despair
I am barely breathing and barely living
Every little thing is a bother
I am choking and my heart is screaming
The pressures of life is too much to bear

Is there a better tomorrow?
What lies ahead after the sunset?
I wish to wake up to that same yesterday
But today makes me want to burrow
To hide from the haunting glare of despair
Or turn my back and simply walk away

My heart broken
My spirit is downcast
But a glimmer of hope awaken
The buried dream of my past
My dead soul enlightened
With a soft whisper from the King of Atlas

He held my hand and said, "Arise my warrior"
You must fight the daily battle.
